Ancillary Alice Advisory

It's sort of ancillary for me, you see; an anchor of some kind. Monday Mischief can be a separate post later today.

I have spent very little time online lately or on the computer. I woke up this morning realizing I had some bills to pay. Had put them right out of my head because I was not occupied online and the reminder wasn't there.

I'm like that; they say it takes 21 days to establish a habit, but I can break one in three, no matter how good it was or how much I was enjoying it. For things that are necessary but not rote, I have to continually be mindful. I feed the dog and cat every day at 8 am and 6 pm. The cat has a half can of food on her dish and the dog has one can, one half scoop of dry food, one teaspoon of tooth powder. I succeed at this mostly because they need me to. But I was sewing a quilt square every Saturday and quilting a little each day after finishing the one block a day for a year top. And something happened to prevent me from working on a quilt square two Saturdays in a row. Now I am nearly two months behind; I sewed every day for nearly a year and then forgot to after missing a few. The mind-muscle memory has faded away. So, am still a work in progress.

Song in my head when I woke up this morning: "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk. But I think "(Nothing But) Flowers" by the Talking Heads more apt...

Weather data: Still inconsistent out there. 50/10 right now, expecting 77/25 for a high, and what could be better than that? Well, more sun in it, for starters, and later in the week looks pretty shaky. But May in the (almost) Midwest is a shaky thing.

Interesting thing I read this morning (bearing in mind he could have shortened the intro: ) This piece on the fonts and color choices for various presidential candidates. I had never even heard of three of them. But I am mildly interested in typography, having married into it and also being very very into the printed word, so I enjoyed looking it over, and the writer's sense of humor about it all.
